Taking care of your Meta Quest

Like other gaming and media products, your Meta Quest headset is sensitive electronic equipment. Get the most out of your device by cleaning it properly, storing it safely, and keeping it out of spots that might leave it vulnerable to damage.

  • Keep your device out of direct sunlight, and keep it away from sharp objects or sources of heat or liquids.
  • Keep the electrical charging points clean, dry, and free of debris, including the charging port and contacts, headphone jack, and docks and cables. Periodically check these charging points to ensure that they do not show signs of corrosion or damage.
  • The front cover window and lenses should only be cleaned with a dry microfiber cloth. Using any liquids, including cleansers or soaps, could permanently damage the front cover window and the lenses.
  • Non-alcohol, non-abrasive antibacterial wipes can be used to clean the body of your headset excluding the lenses.

Comfort Ratings
The Meta Horizon Store provides Comfort Ratings ranging from Comfortable to Intense for some apps related to camera motion, player motion, and other possible disorienting content and effects. These Comfort Ratings can help you identify the content that’s best suited to your preferences and needs. People new to VR or with a history of motion sickness should generally start with more Comfortable apps as they learn what they like when moving and looking around in VR. You can find the Comfort Rating for a given game or app on its store listing page.
Click here for more details on how comfort-related information can help provide a comfortable experience.

Content ratings
Meta Horizon Store content is rated through the International Age Rating Coalition (IARC), a global age classification process for digital games and mobile apps. Each app on the Meta Horizon Store and App Lab shows these content ratings, so you’ll know what type of experience you or your under 18’s select. This also makes it easier for developers to get age and content ratings for their apps from multiple territories simultaneously, and gives the people who use those apps a consistent set of familiar and trusted ratings that reflect their own cultural norms regarding content and age-appropriateness. By default, preteens and teens aged 10+ (requirements may vary by country) are only able to download or purchase apps in the Meta Horizon Store that are age appropriate, and all other apps are blocked. However, parents have the ability to override those age blocks on a case-by-case basis. For further information on how parents can help their teens navigate VR, please visit our Parent Education Hub.

If you are using an activity space near or with another user or co-worker, ensure that you have enough space to use your selected app.

Using Your Meta Quest for Fitness & Wellness
Certain apps may have a fitness or wellness focus and may promote active movement. Read and follow all in-app instructions and warnings when using your Meta Quest for active movement. Sharing your Meta Quest headset with friends & family
One of the best parts about using Meta Quest headset is introducing your friends and family to the experiences you love, and Multi-User accounts and App Sharing make it easier to do so. With Multi-User accounts and App Sharing, you’re able to log into multiple accounts on a single headset and share Meta Horizon Store apps you’ve purchased between accounts. You can maintain your own Following and Follower lists, browser history, privacy settings, PIN, and more—and even lock your account and saved passwords with an unlock pattern before handing your headset to friends or family. This gives you more privacy, including for your chats if you’ve logged into Messenger in VR. The PIN that you create for your account is also required for any purchases made in the Meta Horizon Store in VR, to ensure that you are the one making the purchase. With the App Unlock feature, you are also able to lock specific games and apps behind an unlock pattern, so you can ensure other people, such as children 10+ aren’t accessing experiences that aren’t age appropriate.
Of course, everyone starts as a beginner, so you’ll want to help your friends and family get started by ensuring they have created a Meta account and a Meta Horizon profile. You can choose whether to set-up your account using an email address or your Facebook account.
Also, make sure anyone using your Meta Quest headset knows key health and safety info. Before sharing your Meta Quest headset, clean the headset for them. Help your guests set up a safe, clear activity space with a buffer before starting any experiences on your Meta Quest headset.
